Degree Requirements
Respiratory therapists help in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide variety of patients with heart and lung problems. Patients may be in newborn nursery units, in surgical and medical units, in emergency rooms, and in outpatient departments and intensive care units of hospitals. Patients may have chronic conditions that threaten their lives, or have birth defects or accident-connected disabilities affecting their heart, lungs, or other body organs. To be considered for admission, applicants must meet the following requirements and qualifications by the time they are admitted:
Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from an accredited institution
Current physical therapy license in the United States or Canada
Overall 3.0 GPA or higher in the physical therapy degree
