The 1st cycle of studies (bachelor) in Radiology provides the skills necessary to act effectively within the diagnosis, treatment, prevention and health promotion, training professionals capable of using sophisticated equipment for acquisition, processing and evaluation of images, studying them from according to the clinical information available in the implementation of pre-diagnosis.

The rapid evolution of technology currently in the service of health, particularly in the context of diagnosis and therapy, does provide a field of intervention in constant evolution. This course aims, therefore training, through a solid and rigorous curriculum, graduates are able to update, to work in teams and take in residence, a professional attitude to study and develop skills.

This course of study is organized in 8 semesters for a total of 240 credits, of which 30 correspond to stages of clinical training.

This is a unique programme being launched by Jamia Hamdard in 2004 in collaboration with renowned Venu Eye Institute and Research Centre, Delhi. Teaching of students will be undertaken by both the organizations and during internship training of students will be imparted at different hospitals and outreach centers run by Venu Eye Institute and Research Centre

Eligibility:

A candidate seeking admission to B.Sc. (Optometric Practices) must have:

passed Senior Secondary (12th Standard/Intermediate) examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology from Central Board of Secondary Education or any other examination recognized by Jamia Hamdard as equivalent thereto and secured at least 50% marks in the aggregate of Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

Selection procedure

For admission to B.Sc. (Optometric Practices) programme, a Combined Entrance Test for Bachelor programmes (CET ) will be conducted to test the knowledge of the candidates in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and General Awareness. The standard of questions will be based on the qualifying examination i.e. Senior Secondary/Intermediate. The selection will be made on the basis of merit determined by the performance of the candidates in the written test only.

Radiographers are employed in hospitals, clinics, and physician’s offices. With successful completion of specialty training, radiographers may become registered in radiation therapy, nuclear medicine, ultrasound, CT, MRI mammography, and special procedures. HCC offers a training program for MRI. Bachelor’s degree programs in radiologic sciences are now offered at many universities. HCC has a 2+2 agreement with Friends University, Wichita, which awards such a degree. With experience, some persons are selected for management positions such as director of radiology services. Opportunities also exist to teach in hospital or college based radiography programs.

Average entry level salaries in Kansas range between $14.00 and $17.00 per hour. Other states may offer slightly higher average salaries.
